Jimmy Choos now on ebay.ie!

posted: 17-Nov-2009

Yes, Irish savvy shoppers (and early birds) are already selling their Jimmy Choo’s from H&M on line at ebay.ie, and making a tidy profit too.

This Leopard Print Clutch is for sale at a 'buy it now' price of €170 but was in the shop for under €100.

The reserve prices have been set at around the face value, or a little higher, but if you want your purchase guaranteed the buy it now figure is almost double the shop price in some cases.

The collection has sold out in the shops here, like everywhere else (boo! hiss!) but if you still want a Choo fix then check out what’s selling on ebay.ie now.

Christmas lights in Dublin

posted: 17-Nov-2009

The Christmas lights were turned on in Henry St on Sunday with Grafton Street following tonight.

We hear Westlife are doing the honours

But the biggie is the 'switching on' of the Christmas Tree on O'Connell Street on Sunday.

You'll remember the tree from last year - it's the one with the light-bulbs.

We've been doing a bit of research and are told that far from being a big waste of energy, the light bulbs are all LED.

Anyone who has tried to change a lightbulb immediately after switching it off will appreciate that a lot of energy pushed into regular light bulbs creates heat.

But with LED all the energy goes into generating light, not heat. This means the electricy bills are a fraction of the normal cost. And they're all sponsored by Bord Gais

It’s handbags at dawn this Saturday with the hotly anticipated Jimmy Choo collection going on sale in H&M stores around the globe including 11 stores in Ireland.

Given the queues for their previous collaborations like Matthew Williamson and Comme de Garcons, there are likely to be queues well before the shops open particularly in their flagship store in South King Street.

And like previous occasions, the entire range won't be available everywhere - South King St, it seems, is the only which will get everything. But here's what's in stock ladies!

And now get a load of this fabulous leggy dress

High heel zebra print shoe €99 99
Evening bag €49,95
Leather bracelet with studs €19,95

Jimmy Choo isn't just about shoes as you know - here's some more fab accessories, lots of spangle stuff - bang on for the Christmas party season.

So if you are planning to brave the scrum or would just like a good drool over the gorgeous collection before it sells out, then here are our must-have picks from the range.

Their store on South King Street in Dublin will be getting the full spread of items, but other outlets, like Dundrum, will be less a few pieces.

Check out our pick of the best followed by what won’t be up for grabs outside of their flagship Dublin shop.

H&M have 11 shops in Ireland:

  • Nov-18 - poppetThis ebay lark is madness! The whole collection has been completely over hyped. There are a few nice pieces but most of it isn't even that nice and it's overpriced for what it is. The prices are much higher than H&M's usual prices but the quality isn't higher to match. It's just fickle fashion followers buying into the Jimmy Choo name.
  • Nov-17 - jackhot2009208Be careful when you decide to buy ugg boots.Don’t buy cheap products that are called uggs but have cheap leather. Especially some variations coming from China which use pigskin as outer layer, or cheap liner skins used as the internal layer are something to avoid. welcome to the site: www.uggsaleau.com
  • Nov-16 - navangirlDid you see the Jimmy Choo shoes went on EBay yesterday? This is what the papers said :he shoes sold out within hours of going on sale on Saturday, after shoppers camped out in gale-force storms to secure a pair of towering high heels. Less than 24 hours later, hundreds of pairs of shoes were for sale on eBay, where bidders paid double for the sold-out styles. A strappy pair of black 'Cage' heels, originally priced at £79.99, sold for £155 after 16 bidders fought it out for the designer shoes. Peep-toe boots originally sold for £99.99 were auctioned for £200, and a pair of £180 leather thigh-high boots reached more than £300 before their owner apparently decided they could not bear to sell them.

Wedding honeyz!

Do we have news for you - this weekend you can get a €4k Vera Wang wedding dress for €750.

Ladies in the know, will know that Vera Wang dresses are the preferred choice of many a moneyed and famed bride including Victoria Beckham (remember her at Luttrelstown Castle) and
Natasha Bedingfield

.

This dress here is normally sold for €4,200 while the one below is normally just a tenner short of  €5,000 but Brown Thomas is selling it off with reductions of up to 75 per cent

Of course, there is a snag. The dresses are all samples and have all been worn either on the catwalk or tried on in the shop by other brides to be. But who cares. If you're a bride and you can fetch an amazing frock for under a grand, that's a good bargain.

This number above is normally €4,995.

But the good news for all brides to be is the samples, which are normally designed for stick insect models, come in all sizes up to size 12

If you're not looking for a wedding dress and just plan to browse the shops this weekend, there's plenty of other nice stuff to ogle over.

Here's Ireland.com's weekly ladies fashion shopping guide

It'll give you the skinny on what's in Zara, H&M, A-Wear etc every week here at Ireland.com

  • Nov-6 - grainne_clareAnyone planning a wedding soon and doesn't want to splash out on a four seasons budget? Fallon & Byrne in Dubln is a fantastic place for a reception. It's very unusual, because it's a kind of New Yorky shop on theh ground floor. But a friend of mine got married there recently. The food was great, the staff fabulous and was easy for all her family to get to and didn't involve overnight stays for all . recommend it grainne

Beauty Booty Deals

posted: 02-Nov-2009

In the run up to Christmas (yes, we can no longer ignore the barrage of yuletide information coming at us) Boots are doing weekly special offers - not a bad place to start for cash and idea-strapped bargain present hunters.

This week they have a deal on Elle MacPherson’s beauty set ‘Elle Ultimate Elle’ which is normally priced at €52.00 but will be available for half the price at €26.00 until 5 November.

The collection is part of Macpherson’s ‘The Body’ range, and features a Start the Day body wash, Ultimate Moisture body butter, foot cream, mini hand cream, mini bath soak, facial wipes, pulse point oil, exfoliating mitt and a four-way nail buffer.

If you don’t end up giving it to someone else, you can always slather, buff and preen yourself through the winter.

It also comes in a pretty cute (and reusable) black and ivory handbag.

From 3rd November Boots are also offering some specials on fragrances, Joop! Jump EDT 50ml bottle, which is usually €48.49, will be on sale for €19, with DKNY Purple 100ml reduced from €43.99 to €29.

  • Nov-4 - ClooneyI bought this last week! The bag is fab, although I thought the products inside it would just be miniature bottles that people don't usually bother using ... but it's full size products that are inside, and lots of them! I gave it to my sister and she loves it (yes I am a very nice sister!)
