Bling on the north side!

Grafton street, pah! It’s all about Henry Street now. Why? Well apart from having more actual clothes shops on it, its flagship store Arnotts has had quite the makeover, doubling the size of its beauty hall and renovating the accessories section so it’s yelling chic!

Many of us will have a soft spot for Arnotts from way back and though the interior became dated and overly crowded with concession stands, it had the old school feel of a local shop but on a bigger scale. Its sales assistants in the shoe section have always rocked and the beauty counters were thankfully devoid of the uppity airs that put you off your game.

But now - done out in two tone colours and with tons of space - their offering has got the chance to stretch its legs so you can really have fun. Apart from the well-established beauty brands they were already carrying, Chanel, Clinique, Clarins, YSL etc, they have also got in some rather tasty new ones like Swedish cult brand Make Up Store, which is gearing up to give M.A.C a serious run for its money.

Benefit are there, complete with brow bar and Make Up Forever have a huge space worth checking out. Another hot new brand to tip is BECCA, whose founder has been searching for the perfect foundation, and I like their efforts (I also applaud them on their mission).

The perfumery is completely revamped so you can waft through rows of essential scents such as Nina Ricci and check out some of the cute more unknown ones like HaraJuku Lovers fragrance.

Other newbies include KaplanMD, a makeup and skincare brand focusing on anti-ageing. I particularly liked their lippies, which combine a moisturiser on the inside surrounded by the shade.

Also check out the new skincare brand getting all the journo's in a flap, Trilogy, set to be the sensation of the year with their Everything Balm fast becoming an essential beauty staple (more on that next post!).

.

On the fashion end they have introduced Farhi by Nicole Fahri, Jaeger London and Italian label Marella in clothing with Pied A Terre, Dune and Bertie all making their first appearance on the shoe rack. Mimi is the name to watch in new labels for bags and jewellery brand Agatha Paris is a good one to check out for affordable bijou.

  • Oct-18 - cleopatraHey there, I went to Arnotts today and was looking for the fab new fashion floor. But it's only cosmetics that has gotten the makeover. Boo hoo. But - girls if you're a fan of Buffalo or St Martin's and French connection, Arnotts has moved them all to the Jervis centre opposite Top Shop. Top Tip xx Charlotte

JessieAndChupi

Meet Jessie and Chupi – two of the hottest fashionistas in Ireland.

Chupi, 25, has something in common with Kate Moss – she has her own Top Shop label, while Jessie is one of the country’s best fashion journalists and editor of iVenus.com.

It’s not surprising that Jessie and Chupi share some common interests – they are cousins!

Every week they are going to be giving us the skinny on shop fashion, street fashion and all sorts of other insidery tips and observations.

Chupi spends much of her week in Top Shop in St Stephen's Green where she has her own label, Chupi. She was scouted by the British retailer when she was just 21.

And Jessie, spends her days talking to the top people in the business and sampling their latest products - lucky her - and analysing them.

You see, Jessie and Chupi. They just know stuff. And they’re going to share it with us. You can email them at jessiechupi@ireland.com
